International Leaders
The international leaders are completely volunteer, and have numerous roles, in Mali and in the USA.

Jumoke Akinrolabu is MHOP's publicity
coordinator. She is a student, writer and
researcher of Nigerian ancestry.

| Kristine Barker works on graphic design for MHOP. She studied International Studies and is getting a Master's degree in Public Policy and Administration. She has researched women's alternative education methods in Bamako, Mali. | |

| Fodé Sory Camara comes from Guinée, West Africa. He recently completed his master’s degree in Intercultural Management at the School for International Training. He did his practicum on MHOP for six months in 2006-2007. He is currently living in Bamako, and maintains an active relationship with the project. Fodé is a skilled teacher, an excellent community organizer, and a versatile and international sense of humor. | |
| Gowri Chandra is a senior at Brown University and was the 2007 CAFO program volunteer, spending the summer in Bamako (with a French focus) and has also taken courses in human biology, anthropology, and psychology. She has a professional interest in mental health issues and related community services, and to this extent has worked at Camp Huntington, a residential community for adults with disabilities for two summers, and has also done research at Butler Hospital in Rhode Island | |

Chen,originally from Oakland,
CA, has lived in Beijing, China and worked
extensively on various electoral reform
campaigns here in the United States. She
is a 2006 Truman Scholar and holds a joint BA
in Sociology and International Relations from
Brown University. She is currently
interning with The Nation and living in
Washington, DC. | |
| Allison Cohen is advising on MHOP's community-based evaluation efforts. A Community Health and Education Policy concentrator at Brown University, she is interested in community-based participatory program evaluation and research that engages those most directly affected. | |
| Brian Cohen is our logistics and office coordinator. He is an etcher and art teacher at The Putney School. He runs Bridge Press in Westminster Station, Vermont. Brian also designed MHOP's logo. | |
| Caitlin Cohen is the US Executive Director of MHOP. She is one of the project's co-founders, and lived in Sikoroni for a year. She is a student of International Development and Medicine at Brown University. She is a Royce Fellow, Watson Institute Fellow, International Health Institute Fellow, and national Truman Scholarship finalist. She has worked for several NGOs and labor organizations. | |
| Benjamin Colburn is a pre-med sophomore at Brown University concentrating in Anthropology and Human Biology as well as a former Kenneth Hugh Mayer LGBT Health Research Intern at the Fenway Institute in Boston. He has a strong medical research background and has developed three community health research protocols which have garnered the attention and funding of such organizations as the Katherine Wasserman 100 Project for Peace fund. | |
| Garan Diarra is a Microfinance and programs intern with MHOP. He is quite concerned with the children of Sikoroni, and has worked to incorporate orphans into our health programs. He is Malian-American and lives part-time in New York City and part-time in Korofina, Mali. He is a certified public accountant. | |
| Mariposa Garth-Pelly is MHOP's Canvassing Coordinator. An International Development Studies major at Brown University, she spent the 2006-2007 academic year in Bamako, studying the SIT Mali and working as a translator for the Educational Research Network for West and Central Africa. | |
| Yoonhee Ha is coordinating MHOP's Monitoring and Evaluation efforts. She is a graduate student at The London School of Hygeine & Tropical Medicine, where she is a Marshall Scholar. She completed her undergraduate education at The Ohio State University. | |
| Caroline Mailloux serves as MHOP's Sanitation Project coordinator and Grant Development director. She attends Brown University, where she studies development and global health politics and works on the recently launched 15 by 2015 campaign - a program advocating for donor organizations to allocate 10% of their vertical funding towards sustainable comprehensive primary health by 2015. During the summer of 2008, she will travel to Sikoroni to help jumpstart a waste management collective. | |

Eve McNeill and Joshua Wortzel - Eve is a first-year student at Dartmouth Medical School. She and Joshua have helped MHOP with web design, hosting, and various other projects. Eve volunteered. Eve volunteered in Mali in 2006. | |

| Elizabeth Sederberg was the 2007 Health Programs coordinator. She is a Duluth, MN native with a B.A. from Carelton College and a major in Biology. Long-term plans include medical school and Doctors Without Borders. | |
| Julie
Siwicki will coordinate MHOP's
Microfinance branch this summer, and will be
the US Programs Director during the next
academic year. At Brown University, she
studies International Development and
Economics. She is a 2008-2009 Starr
Fellow through Brown's Swearer Center for
Public Service. She has spent a semester
in India, volunteering with multiple schools
and NGOs. | |

| Michael
Tong is the founder and coordinator of
the Microfinance branch of MHOP. He is a
graduate of Northwestern University and
graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Cum Laude, and
received Honors in Economics. At
Northwestern, he was the Business Manager for
the Northwestern News Network and a board
member for the Global Engagement Summit.
In November he will begin his work as a
consultant for Bates White. | |
| Erica Trauba is a co-founder of MHOP. She is actively engaged in graphic design, fundraising, and a little bit of everything. Erica is from Utah and is currently writing her honors thesis on waste management in West African urban environments at Brown University. She has worked for several NGOs including the International Rescue Committee. | |
| Nicole Veilleux is the Web Director for MHOP. After studying both Studio Art and Outdoor Education/Wilderness Therapy and working in education for over 10 years, Nicole is now enjoying a shift in roles by working at a holistic health clinic in Asheville, NC. | |
| Dr. Joyce Vining-Morgan is MHOP's Accountant and Financial Manager. She is currently working at the White Mountain School. She has extensive experience in administration, college counseling, and exchange programs abroad (particularly Russia). | |
| Katherine Walter is a sophomore at Harvard College from Katonah, New York. She is an active member in the Harvard AIDS Coalition and the Environmental Action Committee, and spent the past summer working with the Harvard Initiative for Global Health, researching HIV immunology. | |

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors has diverse experience in non-profit management, West-African water health, politics, volunteering, engineering, technology, you name it!
| Christopher Bull is a Senior Research Engineer and Senior Lecturer at Brown University, and he teaches a course on technology for the developing world. He is also a faculty adviser to Engineers Without Borders. | |
| Abdoul
Diallo spends most of his time in
Bamako, though he is quite a traveler and can
be found in Vermont, Ghana, Niger, and
elsewhere. Abdoul used to teach
sustainable development at SIT, and he is now
working as the regional coordinator for the
USAID West African Water Initiative.
Because of his unique experience in Mali, the
US, and with non-profit organizations, he is
the chair of the Board. | |
| Colleen Donovan-Togo has lived in Mali for the last seven years. She was a PeaceCorps volunteer, and has worked in administration for the NIH AIDS program (SEREFO) in Bamako. She is also a “two-fer” as her husband, Ergoli Togo, is a civil engineer from Bamako. Colleen is the vice-chair of the Board. | |
| Lindsay
Ryan co-founded MHOP. She studied
international development at Brown University,
during which time she put considerable energy
into figuring out how to spend the most time
possible in Latin America and Africa. She
is particularly interested in labor rights, the
socioeconomic dimensions of disease, and the
application of community organizing tactics to
health problems. Lindsay is currently a
first-year student at Harvard Medical School,
and is the secretary of the
Board. | |
| Tobin
Scipione is principal and owner of
Scipione Consulting, which provides assistance
in organizational development and management to
nonprofit organizations and agencies since
1999. She has worked in the nonprofit and
public sectors both within the United States
and abroad. Tobin currently resides in
Portland, Maine with her husband and son.

| Michael
Stein is the founder and president
of Members Only Software, Inc - a provider of
software to think tanks, professional
societies, YMCAs, service and advocacy groups,
and trade associations. In his words he is “a
certified nerd” with a degree in physics from
MIT. Michael is instrumental in helping MHOP
manage web development and technological
solutions for multi-continent communication.

ADVISORS
| Anani Dzidzienyo is a professor of Africana Studies at Brown University. He is originally from Ghana and specializes in the Afro-Brazilian connection, and West African literature and politics. As much of our project is about empowerment of local individuals, his political perspective is very helpful. |
